چکیده

We propose a formalization of analog algorithms, extending the framework of abstract state machines to continuous-time models of computation. The machine to be described here, like almost every contrivance, apparatus, or machine in practical use, is based very largely upon what has been accomplished by others who previously labored in the same field. —Description of the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey tide-predicting machine, no. 2 (1915)

Practice Utilization of Algorithms for Analog Filter Group Delay Optimization

This contribution deals with an application of three different algorithms which optimize a group delay of analog filters. One of them is a part of the professional circuit simulator Micro Cap 7 and the others two original algorithms are developed in the MATLAB environment. An all-pass network is used to optimize the group delay of an arbitrary analog filter. Introduced algorithms look for an op...

Control Simulation and Experimental Verification of Maximum Power Point Tracking Based on RT-LAB (TECHNICAL NOTE)

The maximum power point tracking (MPPT) control in the Photovoltaic system is the key control technology, however present controller has the disadvantages of long development cycle, high cost and complex verification, and there are some disadvantages carrying out totally physical simulation or totally digital simulation of different control algorithms. This paper carried out design of hardware ...

Universal Estimation of Information Measures for Analog Sources

This monograph presents an overview of universal estimation of information measures for continuous-alphabet sources. Special attention is given to the estimation of mutual information and divergence based on independent and identically distributed (i.i.d.) data. Plug-in methods, partitioning-based algorithms, nearest-neighbor algorithms as well as other approaches are reviewed, with particular ...

Cognitive Foundations of Arithmetic: Evolution and Ontogenisis

Dehaene (this volume) articulates a naturalistic approach to the cognitive foundations of mathematics. Further, he argues that the ‘number line’ (analog magnitude) system of representation is the evolutionary and ontogenetic foundation of numerical concepts. Here I endorse Dehaene’s naturalistic stance and also his characterization of analog magnitude number representations. Although analog mag...

Computability via Analog Circuits

In this paper we are interested in a particular model of analog computation, the General Purpose Analog Computer (GPAC). In particular, we provide more solid foundations for this model and we show that it can be used to introduce a notion of computability for smooth continuous dynamical systems over R. We also show that hierarchies over these dynamical systems can be established, thereby defini...
